Captain Thomas N. Teague
Tugboat Captain
Over the years Capt. Thomas Teague has acquired a
vast knowledge of the marine industry. Starting as a
commercial fisherman, Capt. Teague learned about the
entire Chesapeake Bay and all of its tributaries.
Moving forward he then became a deckhand for Ocean
Towers. These couple of years was spent learning
seamanship on an ocean-going, steel tugboat which
helped to develop the leadership qualities that
represent his personality today. At a firm located in
Chester, Pennsylvania he added his first USGC license
in 1976, soon after receiving wheelhouse training to
qualify as a first mate. As time went on Capt. Teague
received his first command, Captain’s job, in 1978.
At this point Capt. Thomas Teague became a solid,
well-rounded, and personable figure around all of his
co-workers.
Years later Capt. Thomas Teague upgraded his USGC
license and became Capt for Compass Marine Corp. for
4 years. Building on his already impressive resume,
Capt. Teague moved into his current position at
Reinauer Transportation based in New York. Here he
was responsible for the safe and economical operation
of the vessel assuring a 100% safety record from 1986
to the present time. Capt. Teague updated his UGSC
license again in 1997 and in the same year had Best
Rope Bow Fender in New Harbor. He also won first
place in the Company’s Mariner Award Program 2005 and
2006, second place in 1992. During this time he also
assisted with the Port Engineer and ship’s carpenter
to design the layout of Tug Janice Ann.
Throughout the years Capt. Teague has helped numerous
individuals and friends with their advancement in the
marine industry. Fourteen of these individuals were
recommended for Mate positions.
